Like most people I am a unique human being so everything about me is extraordinary.
Probably the one thing that sets me apart from most people is that I don't suffer fools gladly and if something is not to my liking, I say so.
For example, it is rather odd to find that my earlier answers to this question have disappeared - maybe apsensorship has travelled here as well?
Many people know me as the Old Coot - a coot being a wise bird that won't waste time and energy getting airborne if it can run, even on water.

There is not a single thing on this earth that I cannot find interest in. My tastes in all things are eclectic and I do not intend, at this late stage, to try to define myself any sharper than that.
How did you find Unfettered!?
Introduced by David Schupbach who was probably a policeman in an earlier life since I have come across his name several times in alt deutsch where (in the patois of Bad Teufel and Bochum) it translates as Officer Brook.

Please do not send me any more emails like this . . . .

I was in my launderette, emptying the boxes when I noticed a well dressed young man watcing a particular machine very closely.

"Don't worry," I told him "my machines won't damage your clothes."

He stunned me with his reply . . . .

"Oh. They're not my clothes - I never wear anything twice - I always bin my clothes once they have been worn but I do love to watch these machines in action."

Naturally I was a bit disbelieving and asked him why he did this.

"Because I can afford to." was his simp… Continue

In an indefensible position - the only option is to attack.

One of the things I love to do is discuss things rationally and with some measure of conviction.

I honestly believe that long sales letters are damaging to credibility and had the temerity to say so in a forum. The response from the forum owner, who is someone I had once thought had some intelligence and some ideas from which I could learn, came straight from the gutter:-

"well this is an interesting thread...

The old coot is obviously one of lifes negative disenfranchised people.

They ar

We keep getting fewer . .

I have just been informed that a long time friend died recently. He was a few years older than me and we had only been in touch by telephone - not very often at that.

Death has followed me around all my life and I have become somewhat innured to the worst effects of natural loss - but this one marks a bit of a milestone.

I am now the sole survivor of a group that came in touch with each other nearly forty years ago. Talk about having your own mortality brought home with a bang!

In the early d… Continue

But I don't have the time . . . .

Speaking to a friend about Unfettered and the ideal that I understood was behind it I was told that there just wasn't enough time to visit a site that was not about advertising the business.

Everybody, no matter how much responsibility they have thrust upon them, needs to take time out to give the heart and soul a break.

There was a time that I would be on line for ten to twelve hours a day - often with three computers working at different problems at the same time. My health and eye-si… Continue

too far from the truth

In the Admin blog the following statement is made:-

I understand that Arthur wants to see no business on the site but that is not a good compromise and the business people we are hoping to have come here are going to feel very unwelcome if we get rid of everything business.

Let's get something straight.

True business people have no reason to invade every private association of people in order to try to further promote their business. The majority of people who are invited here s… Continue

Hi, Jenny,

I'm sure we will!

I missed out on a notification about the Market Place forum so we do have a little disagreement outstanding about the interpretation of Da Rules.

WOW! So that's you on the recording then. Your voice is so much younger than I was expecting! There were a few clicks in the audio, but I was so spellbound by the story I hardly noticed.

I have to say, the quality of your writing is superb! All the hallmarks of a seasoned author.
The opening grabs your immediate attention, the logic is flawless, suspension of disbelief is instantaneous. The story captures your immagination at the very beginning and never lets go!

And then that little twist at the end. Just when you think he is being thrown to his doom, it becomes just the opposite!

Thanks so much for sharing this!

Arthur!
I just listened to "and so it goes"...

I didn't know you were a Buddhist! (I'm just kidding!)
That is a mesmerizing recording, where did you find it?

You can see that I have uploaded a 'song'. This is in the traditional style of pre-history when songs were spoken and were really little more than stories.
This 'song' is a truly inspired piece of writing. It has been recorded axactly as it was written, in less than one hour, while I and my wife of the day were very seriously ill.
I'm sorry the recording is not very good but, if you have 24 minutes to spare you might like to listen - and comment.

So glad to have you with us Arthur! After all, it was your discussion over at QCWG entitled 'Censorship' that inspired this network!
By The Way, Great Picture!
